We'll start with the day we found out this little guy existed! Friday, April 19. We were at the agency talking to our caseworker and she told us about this little one. She said that the chances we get him were slim to none because there were so many hoops we had to jump through. That this was super high risk. We were excited to learn of him, yet we felt like we couldn't tell anyone because there seemed to be no way that it was going to happen. We chose not to email with the Birth Parents because that would make it real and the more real it is the harder it is when it doesn't happen. She had to tell the Birth Parents that we didn't want to have contact until we knew it was more solid. Grant's Birth Parents are so amazing. They stuck with us through everything. They didn't have to. They could've found someone else that they could have contact with, but they didn't. Then on May 29th we got the call that things were coming together and a few of the hoops we were jumping through were no longer an issue. She told us to be prepared for a baby girl in less than a week. We were still scared, and it was so close to the time our child would be born, that we still didn't tell anyone. We sat through his birth and the NICU scares alone and adopting the agency as our surrogate parents! It was hard, but worth it. Especially with him being a boy, we named him after my brother that passed away and we didn't want my parents to lose another Grant. The day we brought him home, we placed him on the doorstep of my parent's house and waited in the bushes with our camera and camcorder! What we got on tape was priceless and I wouldn't change it for the world!
Here is my Mom coming to the door to meet her new grandson! She was so confused and almost called 911 because of this poor baby left at her door with no parents in sight! She obviously was too confused to realize there was a note attatched to the carseat that said, Happy Father's day Grandpa... and Grandma!
This is our first family picture!
